Modernizations
A genset is a simple generator powered by an internal combustion engine, usually a diesel engine. Can such a simple design be improved? After all, if it could, genset manufacturers would do it at the factory. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Most gensets are mass production, not for the individual customer. Such aggregates do not have many options that the customer might want. Sometimes the user, after time, wants to improve his genset, for example, sms about the working status to his private phone. If you yourself would like to upgrade your genset and have not found such an upgrade, please contact us, we will certainly think over the problem.
Here are a couple of the most popular aggregate upgrades we encounter:
- Coolant circulation pumps – most units have a coolant heater. This heater heats the engine block and makes it easier to start such an engine even in cold weather. Unfortunately, in such heaters the flow of fluid is forced by gravity and is often too small. The heater burns the fluid by increasing its freezing point and the risk of damage to the engine, radiator. A simple solution to this problem is to install a circulation pump in the engine cooling circuit. This extends not only the life of the coolant, but also the life of the heater.
- Additional fuel filtration system – most internal combustion engine manufacturers recommend replacing fuel every 24 months due to the precipitation of paraffin and biocomponents from standing fuel. In running vehicles, the fuel is in motion and is constantly mixing, in addition to being burned on a regular basis. Unfortunately, in generators, the fuel is standing and its filtration is inadequate. Using fuel, old fuel results in clogging of the fuel system, uneven engine operation or prevents the unit from starting.
- Automated refueling – storage tanks and a refueling system allows you to extend the operation of the unit without refueling.
- Hardware upgrade, that is, replacing the driver with a newer one – is done in a couple of cases.
- The genset does not have a controller and the user wants one because of, for example, a user-friendly interface or real-time measurements.
- The old controller has been damaged and is no longer in production.
- The user wants new options such as sms about the status of the genset and the old controller has no such option.
- Installation of GSM systems – such a system informs a group of recipients via sms message about the state of the aggregate. For example, about low fuel or low oil pressure. It can also inform that the genset has started working or that the work has ended.
- Modbus protocol adaptation.
- Installation of resistance weights – every engine likes to work, engines that stand are engines that break down, this is best compared to a passenger car. A car that stands for a few years is often broken down, unlike a car that goes on the road every day. Unfortunately, engines in gensets rest more time alone, so some users want to have a load balancer installed for the genset to load it systematically and thus extend the life of their engine.
